Funding opportunity

The Minnesota Falls Prevention Initiative (MNFPI) has funds available for community-based organizations to address falls among older adults and keep Minnesotans right side up.  Up to 10 applicants within Minnesota will be awarded $1,000 or $2,000 to address either of the following two categories:  Fall Prevention Partnership Development or Fall Prevention Community Activity projects.  Read the funding announcement.

This website provides information for both older adults and professionals to help reduce falls in Minnesota. Here you will find easy, inexpensive ideas that help reduce and prevent falls.

Falls and fall-related injuries among adults over age 65 are on the rise. Currently Minnesota ranks fourth among states in the number of fall-related deaths and Minnesota’s rate of falls among the elderly is increasing at a faster rate than the rest of the country. Statistics that can be decreased for this almost silent problem.

The website is divided in two sections, one section for older adults to get hands-on information to prevent falls. The second section is for any professional that works with older adults. The resources found in this section can help professionals identify the risk factors for falls, and the interventions to prevent them.
